Day 9 of 21

Family

Joshua 24:15

"As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Devotion

The family is God's first institution, established in the garden before the fall. When Joshua made this bold declaration, he was not merely stating a personal preference but establishing a covenant commitment for his entire household. The question before every believer today is the same: Will Christ be Lord of this home?

Consider the weight of Joshua's words—"as for me and my house." He spoke with authority born of conviction. He had seen God's faithfulness through forty years of wilderness wandering and seven years of conquest. Now, in his final address, he calls his family to wholehearted devotion. Dear believer, your family's spiritual direction is not determined by culture, circumstance, or chance—it is determined by choice. Will you, like Joshua, take your stand today?

The home that serves the Lord is a fortress of faith in a faithless generation. It is a lighthouse in the storm, a sanctuary in the wilderness. When parents fear God, children learn reverence. When the Word is honored at the table, hearts are nourished with truth. Your family's devotion to Christ is the greatest inheritance you can leave.

Meditation Moment

Gather your family today and read Joshua 24:14-15 together. Lead them in a prayer of commitment, declaring that your household will serve the Lord. Ask each family member to share one way they can honor God this week. Pray specifically for any family members who do not yet know Christ.
