Day 10 of 21

Wisdom

James 1:5

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."

Devotion

Wisdom is the principal thing, and understanding is to be treasured above gold. But what is wisdom? It is the skill of godly living—knowing God's truth and applying it rightly to every situation. It is seeing life from heaven's perspective and walking accordingly.

James gives us a stunning promise: if we lack wisdom, we need only ask. God does not withhold wisdom from His children. He does not scold us for our need. He gives generously, freely, without reproach. The question is, do we ask? Do we seek His counsel before making decisions? Do we search the Scriptures for divine insight?

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. When you revere God, submit to His Word, and seek His guidance, He will direct your paths. He will give you wisdom for your work, your relationships, your finances, your ministry. Ask Him today with confidence, knowing that He delights to answer this prayer.

Meditation Moment

Identify one area of your life where you need wisdom right now. Bring it specifically before God, asking Him for clarity and discernment. Read Proverbs 2:1-11 and pray it back to God. Commit to seeking wise counsel from mature believers. Ask God to give you a heart that craves wisdom more than worldly success.
