Day 17 of 21

Gratitude

1 Thessalonians 5:18

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Devotion

Gratitude is the antidote to discontentment. It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have been given. It reminds us that every good gift comes from above, that we deserve nothing yet have received everything in Christ.

Paul's command is radical: give thanks in ALL circumstances. Not just when life is pleasant, but when it is painful. Not just when prayers are answered, but when they seem unanswered. Not just when we understand, but when we are confused. This kind of gratitude is supernatural—it flows from faith in God's sovereignty and goodness.

A thankful heart is a powerful weapon against the enemy's lies. When you give thanks, you declare that God is good even when circumstances are hard. You proclaim that His mercies are new every morning. You testify that He is worthy of praise regardless of what you face. Choose gratitude today.

Meditation Moment

Make a list of 20 things you are grateful for—big and small. Thank God specifically for each one. Pray through your current trials and ask God to help you find gratitude even in difficulty. Commit to keeping a gratitude journal this week. Share your thanks publicly to encourage others.
